1) SHE’S SET A DATE
Jennifer Hudson and her fiancé David Otunga, aka Punk from reality TV show I Love New York, have set a date for their wedding. In a recent interview with Ryan Seacrest, Jennifer confirmed that she has set a date for her wedding ceremony and is eager to get her life back on track. According to BrownSista.com the singer is keeping the date and location a secret but hinted that it would take place once she finishes touring with Robin Thicke.
2) CHANGING THE LAW
Uncle Russ aka Russell Simmons has assisted in changing New York State Law. For the past 13 years Simmons has been a part of the fight to stop first time offenders receiving life sentences for fist time drug offences. Essence.com is reporting that 36 years ago the Rockefeller Drug Laws were passed which required binding long prison terms for the possession or sale of small amounts of drugs. Russ was a part of getting this particular law abolished so much so that NY Governor David Patterson affirmed in a recent statement that an agreement has been made with his office and state leaders to eliminate the regulation. In a statement Simmons said ‘Ending the Rockefeller Drug Laws is a great victory for the hip-hop community. We worked hard, turned up the volume on this issue and rejuvenated and broadened the coalition, but it was hip-hop artists like Diddy, Jay-Z and 50 Cent that gave this movement for change the power to wake people up and to get the politicians to do the right thing’.
4) O MY!
According to TheRunDown.net, R&B singer Omarion has recently tied the knot with his long-time girlfriend. But that’s not all that was reported, a few internet sites are reporting that Mrs Grandberry was an employee at Atlanta based Magic City Strip Club when they met! However, due to the high level of secrecy from O’s camp, the truth may never be known.
3) ONE TO WATCH
Latest US phenomenon Santigold has been busy in the studio collaborating with and making guest appearances with the likes of Hip Hop legends the Beastie Boys, N*E*R*D front man Pharrell and David Byrne.
